The BAE Systems facility, formerly known as Aerospace Integration Corporation, creates aircraft parts and equipment. There is an excellent management commitment within the company to promote a strong, proactive approach to job safety. Their management philosophy is based on a strong safety commitment, employee participation, training, awareness and teamwork.

According to Safety Officer Charles White, achieving SHARP status is a source of pride for all involved. “Our flag is hanging in our hangar, which gives people extra motivation to keep it up there,” he says. “It gets inside your head to keep that banner flying. It is a symbol of pride.”

White says that he receives great support from top management to find safety discrepancies and correct them. “Safety is not taken lightly,” he says. “SHARP also makes me more diligent as a safety officer. It makes me dig even deeper to find anything that could cause problems and make it right.”
